Online dating site launches events to bring singles together offline.
For the first time, American-founded dating service 'Match.com' has created offline events for its subscribers - with guest lists dictated by 'algorithmic love matches'.
Over the next 12 months the company intends to organise 2,000 to 3,000 real-life events across 40 countries.
Match's latest offering for paying subscribers only will be dubbed 'The Stir'.
"We expect to send half a million people to events this year," the Telegraph quoted Match.com president Mandy Ginsberg as telling technology site Mashable.
"I think we'll be the biggest global events company in the world, with the exception of maybe the Olympics."
There will be two types of events subscribers can attend. The first will be casual drinking events which paying subscribers can attend for free. And the second will be specific activities, like bowling nights or cookery classes that will cost extra.
For both types of events, only single people who algorithmically seem like they will be a good love match (based on factors each person lists on their web profile - such as age and occupation) will be invited - in an attempt to help people find dates in a more focused environment.
Match is one of the oldest internet dating sites, which has been running for 17 years. It has nearly 1.8 million paying subscribers across the globe and approximately 20 million total members. ( ANI )
