One of the air force's finest.

Tech. Sgt. Ricardo Chavez, a military training instructor with the 433rd Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, is one of the Air Force's 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year. A native of EI Paso, Texas, Chavez completed basic training in 2001. He spent approximately the next six years serving on active duty in the security forces career field. In 2007, Chavex left active duty and joined the Air Force Reserve, retraining to become a military training instructor. He currently serves full time on an active Guard and Reserve tour of duty as the 737th Training Support Squadron unit training manager. The unit is the Air Force's largest BMT squadron with more than 150 people. In addition to his military training instructor duties, Chavez is responsible for the overall management of the unit's training program. (Master Sgt. Cecilio Ricardo)
