One Crab for Two

1 medium-size onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced or pressed

1 tablespoon olive oil or salad oil

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire

1/2 teaspoon dry thyme leaves

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon vinegar

2 cups water

2 drops liquid smoke (optional)

1 large (about 2-1/2 lbs.) cooked

Dungeness crab, cleaned and cracked

Crusty French bread

In a 10- to 12-inch frying pan over medium heat, cook the onion and garlic in the oil, stirring, until onion is soft. Stir in the mustard, Worcestershire, thyme, soy, and vinegar. Then add the water and liquid smoke (if used). Bring to a boil, then simmer, uncovered, about 5 minutes; add the crab and heat through, about 5 minutes longer. Ladle into two wide, shallow soup bowls. Serve with crusty bread to dip into sauce. Serves 2.
