One Love is all around FORTHEWETS and Blue.
Marti Pellow and his bandmates will be rolling out the back catalogue carpet at the Metro Radio Arena in December with a compilation concert sure to thrill the fans who have been following their fortunes since Newcastle-based music show, The Tube gave them their first break in the mid-80s.
In the quarter of a century which as passed since, they have clocked up a crowd of hit albums like Popped In Souled Out, High On The Happy Side and 10 and a boatload of singles including Goodnight Girl, Temptation, Wishing I Was Lucky and, of course, the Troggs cover which stuck to the number one spot like a barnacle, Love Is All Around.
Last year, Wet Wet Wet returned to Glasgow Green for a sold out 25th anniversary concert dubbed 'Back In The Park' and gave fans a glimpse of what to expect on the Greatest Hits tour.
And yesterday, they announced that Blue, who have recently enjoyed renewed success courtesy of ITV2's The Big Reunion series and associated concert, will be opening the show.
Marti, who has crafted a West End musical theatre career since The Wets slowed things down in the late nineties, said: "Blue are great and we're really pleased that they've accepted our invitation to join us on the tour, the fans are going to get a fantastic night out."
Drummer Tommy Cunningham added "The success of Blue speaks for itself and they've had plenty of hits, so with our own set also being greatest hits based, audiences are in for a real show."
Meanwhile Blue: Duncan James, Lee Ryan, Antony Costa and Simon Webbe, who have toured the world on the back of songs like One Love, All Rise and covers of Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered and Elton John's Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word, said: "We have been big fans of Wet Wet Wet ever since Love Is All Around and we are really excited to be joining them on this tour. Look out for all the classic Blue hits as well as some brand new songs from our new album Roulette."
