Dubai: All-time legendary Argentinian footballer Diego Maradona has proposed marriage a second time to a woman he once accused of stealing from his villa on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai but later dropped the charges.
According to latest media reports, Maradona got down on knee and presented an engagement ring to 28-year-old Rocio Oliva on her birthday at a private party with family and close friends a few days ago.
Letting bygones be bygones, Oliva reportedly accepted the proposal from Maradona, 57, who was the member of the Argentine team that won the 1986 World Cup.
This is Maradona's second engagement proposal to Rocio following the first one in Italy in 2014.
At a certain point of this ongoing love affair, it witnessed an edgy ride nearly four years back when the dazzling dribbling maestro, Maradona, lodged a criminal complaint against his countrywoman, Rocio, who is also a football player, accusing her of allegedly stealing his valuable watches and jewellery worth thousands of dirhams on March 10, 2014.
Being his ex-fiance then [in 2014], Rocio was wanted by Dubai prosecutors for questioning after an international and local arrest warrant was issued against her following Maradona's complaint.
She was quoted in media reports, back then, denying the allegations.
Later on in the same year [November 2014], the extradition request and arrest warrants were halted as the retired footballer and former coach of the UAE's Al Wasl and Fujairah Clubs dropped his complaint and waived his charges against Rocio.
The alleged incident was believed to have taken place shortly after Maradona had broken up with Rocio and she left his Palm Jumeirah villa.
Rocio Oliva is a former professional football player who represented several clubs in Argentina. Maradona divorced his first wife Claudia Villafane in 2003 after 17 years of marriage.
