On your bike call on track; SHELDON.

Byline: By Neil Elkes

FAMILIES in Sheldon are being urged to get on their bikes after a pounds 230,000 cycle route extension got the go ahead.

The second part of a cycle route will run through Sheldon Country Park and south of the railway to Bell Walk where it links up to the first part.

It offers a safe route to work from Chelmsley Wood and Garrett's Green to Marston Green Rail Station. City transport chief Coun Len Gregory said: "This encourages residents to use city parks for health and exercise, "Residents can use these traffic-free paths all year round for commuting, leisure and recreation. They are for everyone to share, cyclists, walkers and wheelchair users."

The path will eventually be linked in to the Birmingham to Rugby national cycle route
