On the road to yet another year of pothole misery for motorists.

Byline: THE NEIL DEAL BY WEST SCOTLAND MSP NEIL BIBBY

"The roads are worse than ever" is a common refrain from motorists these days.

After seeing the number of potholes appearing across Paisley, Johnstone and wider Renfrewshire, however, I can see why.

It has not been a good start for the SNP-led Renfrewshire Council, who made all sorts of promises before the council elections last May.

It won't be easy for them to keep their promises because since 2011, the SNP Government in Edinburgh has inflicted PS117 million of cuts on local services in Renfrewshire.

I know many local residents who are not impressed when they see SNP councillors trying to shift the blame onto the previous administration.

The same councillors are now asking for patience from frustrated motorists, stating that they need another year to sort out the mess.

My question for them is this - if we see another year come and go and the problem still isn't sorted, who will you blame then?
