FESTIVAL Cardiff Contemporary Visual Arts Festival The Welsh capital's biennial festival of international contemporary arts showcases a programme of exhibitions, events and activities over four weeks, on the theme of communication. The festival's temporary hub is The Angel on Castle Street, open from 11am, where you can get news on all the city-wide exhibitions and events.

FILM The Girl On The Train (15) Rachel, devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasising about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.

Charles Reardon-Smith from the Wales Academy of Wine will be offering tips and information. Tonight, 7pm, The Discovery pub, Cyncoed. 029 2075 5015 THEATRE George's Marvellous Medicine A new adaptation of the story from Roald Dahl that tells the tale of a young boy who makes a marvellous new medicine to cure his grandmother of her terrifying temper. Expect lots of fizztickling fun and wizzpopping magic.
