On The Pulse NIALL REDMOND.

Byline: JAMES WARD

It was around this time in 2008 that some of us on the fringes of the radio community were asked to be involved with a new RTE digital project - part of which was a 24-hour dance music station.

Six years later and the station has gone from strength to strength despite be unavailable on the FM band.

It certainly shows how people listen to radio has changed radically over the years with the emergence of faster 3G and 4G and smart phone technology, certainly now a days there are no more time checks as you have a global live audience tuned in across many time zones.

It currently features home-grown talent such as Tom Lowe, Will Kinsella, Emmo, Mo K, Dave Treacy, Zoe & Dan Stritch.

And it's also home to international heavy weights such as RBMA, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Adam Beyer, Defected, Afrojack, Hed Kandi and Ministry of Sound.

It broadcasts on DAB, Online, UPC 943, Saorview 205 and the RTE Radio player.

In celebration of this Garage returns to Pygmalion tonight to celebrate six years of RTE Pulse.

In October RTE Pulse launched its first club night Garage, which is a roots House Music night with residents me and Tom Lowe (right).

This Friday alongside Tom and Pygmalion resident Cesar I will be driving festivities from 6pm until closing.

It's free before midnight ([euro]5 after) and if the last two monthly gigs are anything to go by then this atmosphere will once again be electric as we fling down the best in House music with class and groove.

Also happening tonight our good friend Kaily (along side Ian Blandy) launches his "Back to 92' EP at Button Factory (Released via Lapsus on December 8 on Beatport & Traxsource).

Lapsus Music supremos Supernova feature as they showcase the Lapsus Music sound.

Following on from the success of Acid Trip, a Top 20 on Traxsource earlier in the year, Back to 92 is the latest collaboration between Dublin's Kaily and Manchester based ex Dancing Divaz & Dream Frequency main man Ian Blandy. If you feel like heading down for a showbiz schmooze get along to free preparty in Crow Bar tonight from 9pm with Willo, Seany Bee and Rare Groover providing the grooves. Doors 11pm for the main event.
