Oman to lock horns with Bahrain.
Muscat : A confident Oman under-22 side will take on Bahrain in their first match of the West Asian Football Championship in Doha today. According to Oman's goalkeers coach Harun Amor Al Bartmani, the Sultanate squad are confident of making a positive start to the championship that runs till January 7 in the Qatari capital. Speaking at the manadatory match-eve press confernce, in the absence of team's French head coah Philippe Burle, Harun said: "Our team is ready for the first match against Bahrain. They have two very experienced players from their senior national side in their ranks. But we will be ready for them. The boys are ready for the challenge and to perform to the best of their abilties," he said. The Omanis are taking part in the tournament as part of their preparations for the inaugural AFC U-22 Championship to be hosted by Oman from January 11. But Harun said: "We are not here to make the numbers or just for practice. We here to compete for the championship title." Burle is likely to use Mazen Al Kasbi under the bar and other members of his starting eleven are Moheeb Izzat, Nadhir Al Maskari, Ali Salim, Bashil Al Rawahi, Abdullah Noah, Sami Mubarak, Ali Al Busaidy, Saud Al Farsi, Sami Al Hosni and Raed Ibrahim Al Haikal.
