Oman Chapter of IIA to organise seminar.

Muscat: The Oman Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is organising a seminar on Enterprise Risk Management titled 'Successful entrepreneurialism through managed risk taking' on September 8 at the Muscat Hall of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS). Eminent risk management expert Liz Taylor will be the speaker at the event. Speaking about the seminar, Sabrah Al Maskary, president of IIA Oman Chapter stated that IIA Oman Chapter is spearheading the efforts to create awareness about the Enterprise Risk Management and has previously scheduled notable educational seminars for the benefit of the IIA members in Oman. Liz Taylor has been working with various insurance companies and banks as well as a number of utility companies worldwide. She was the chief executive of Alarm (the forum for risk management in the public sector); senior-vice president and practice leader for Marsh Europe and she also chaired AIRMIC (The Association of Risk and Insurance Managers). "In addition to the workshop and seminars on the relevant topic, we are also planning to start review classes for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) students in Oman and the details will be announced later during the year," said Mubeen Khan, treasurer and director in-charge of communications at the IIA Oman Chapter. We encourage IIA members to attend in large numbers," he added. The Oman Chapter of IIA -- is sponsored by the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) in the Sultanate and run by a board elected by IIA members. The newly-elected board took over the charge in April and Badar Abdullah Al Hashmi was elected vice-president and Ghazanfar Naseer was appointed the secretary whereas Jose Chako, Ashwini Sawrikar and Nibu Kumar Nair were elected directors.
