Oman Air rehearses emergency response plan.
Oman Air held a major emergency response exercise at its headquarters in Muscat. The exercise brought together senior managers, operational team leaders and an eight member exercise control team to test the strength of the airline's emergency response plan. Upon activation of the exercise, participating managers were instructed to attend Oman Air's emergency response center (ERC) and local incident control center (LICC) at Zanzibar, where they received information about the simulated emergency. A real-time scenario was then developed, including the steady provision of new issues and additional information, as often happens during an actual emergency. Local Incident Control Centers in Muscat, and one of Oman Air's outstations were also involved. In addition, an Oman Air Go Team was activated in Muscat and provided with relevant logistic and financial resources. A two-member team from Kenyon International Emergency Services oversaw the event. The company coordinated its support functions from its emergency center in Bracknell, the UK. The entire exercise was monitored from the ERC by Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch. He was also on hand to advise and support Emergency Director Adil Sheibani and his team. The exercise was followed by a simulated media briefing. Sheibani commented: "I am pleased to say that Oman Air's recent emergency exercise was very successful. Such exercises not only demonstrate the effectiveness of Oman Air's emergency planning, but also provide vital training opportunities for our emergency response teams." Gregorowitsch said: "Oman Air's overriding consideration is the safety and well-being of all our valued passengers and staff. The positive outcomes from this exercise are the result of the commitment and enthusiasm offered by all the staff involved and I am grateful for all their hard work. I would particularly like to thank Capt. Waheed Al-Subhi, senior manager safety and Emergency Response Planning, for his leadership and expertise."
