Olympic trio sign for team.

OLYMPIC champions Laura Trott, Dani King and Joanna Rowsell have signed for a new women's team supported by Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins.

The DTPC (Dream Team Pro Cycling) Honda Pro Cycling Team will be registered in Britain and led by Australian Rochelle Gilmore, the Commonwealth Games champion, who is "presently in deep negotiations (over the naming rights) with a global company based in the United Kingdom".

A statement announcing the team read: "The team is also privileged to have the personal backing of British cycling legend Bradley Wiggins CBE through the Wiggo Foundation.

"Wiggins' provision of generous support, assistance and encouragement will further enable the girls to fulfil their potential out on the road."

In the wake of his Tour triumph and fourth Olympic gold medal, Wiggins stated his wish to support women's cycling.

Trott won double gold at the London 2012 Olympics, in the six-discipline omnium event and in the team pursuit, where King and Rowsell were her teammates.

Now the trio will make the transition to the road.

Trott said: "I'm excited to be joining the DTPC Honda Pro Cycling Team for the 2013 season and look forward to being part of what I believe will be one of the most professional and most successful teams next year.

"I'm looking forward to gaining more experience on the road with such a great team next year."

Britain's Elinor Barker, the junior world time-trial champion, is also to ride for the team, along with her compatriot Amy Roberts and Italy's two-time world champion Giorgia Bronzini.
