Old library to start new chapter.

A FORMER Stockton library is set to open as a GP surgery.

Dr Paul Williams Thornaby Library, on Westbury Street, has been turned into a GP practice and will be part of Elm Tree Surgery, which already has a building on the street.

Labour MP for Stockton South Dr Paul Williams will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony, which will take place on Friday, March 23.

Plans for the new premises were approved subject to conditions by Stockton Council last June.

The conversion of the former library includes a minor surgical unit, a single-storey extension and the installation of two windows and external alterations.

Once open, the practice will be available to patients from Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturdays from 8am to 12pm.
