Oland named president of John Labatt Ltd.

Sid Oland, president, Labatt Brewing Co. Ltd., was recently appointed president of John Labatt Ltd, parent company of the brewing interests. His appointment was effective September 1.

"Obviously, I'm honored to be taking on these new responsibilities, but at the same time, each and every employee in the Labatt Brewing Company should realize that this change is very much his or her doing," Oland said. "I am very, very aware of the reality that I have this new job because of the outstanding job done by all of the people in the company during the past 10 to 15 years."

Oland began his career in 1960 as an assistant brewer with the Oland Brewing Co. of Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 1973, he joined Labatt's as a senior market research analyst before being named vice president and general manager of Labatt's Saskatchewan in 1974.

He became executive vice president of Canadian Operation in 1979 before being appointed president of brewing operations in 1980.
