Oklahoma conundrum; VIEWS.

THE horrific events in Oklahoma are unfathomable. Asking 'why?' is natural at times like this, but intuitively it is clear that there cannot be any good reason for what was truly an 'act of God'.

Can you imagine the children's terror at the Plaza Towers Elementary School as the monster tornado tore down the building around them? A number of children have been confirmed dead after they drowned when water mains burst.

Christians regard the Bible to be the final answer to any topic that it purports to speak explicitly about, so what was God doing while the tornado laid waste the school? Consult the New Testament and you will discover the answer: "For He commands even the wind and the water, and they obey him" (Luke 8:25).

It may sound strange at first to say that God would decree an immoral act, but the Bible shows that he did. But if it is the truth, it is a most difficult one for Christians to swallow.

We are told the Lord works in mysterious ways but, for many people, to suggest there is an intelligent deity who could rationally act in such a fashion and that that deity is worth worshipping seems beyond the pale.
