Oil Industry Makes First Iranian Made Hydro Dozer.

Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian experts managed to manufacture a hydro dozer for the first time to remove sludge from the interior oil storage tanks, senior oil industry officials announced.

Addressing a ceremony held to mark the launch of operation of the first domestically made hydro dozer at North Oil Terminal, Managing Director of Iran Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) Seyed Pirooz Moussavi said given the strategic role of terminals and oil storage tanks in the country and the necessity of acquiring the technology and equipment for repair, maintenance and protecting storage facilities, his company embarked on a comprehensive program for designing and manufacturing hydro dozers.

Moussavi said the company decided to manufacture a hydro dozer to clean oil tanks without reliance on foreign companies.

He said IOTC experts could manufacture the equipment with two billion rials cost, adding it was tested at North Oil Terminal to clean a 150 thousand barrels oil tank.

Moussavi added the equipment would be developed in the second phase in order to be able to clean oil tanks with 500 thousand barrels capacity.

According to Moussavi, in the third phase, the company will make hydro dozers with the capability to remove sludge automatically by applying remote control techniques, without human being interference.

The first IOTC's made hydro dozer has the capability to be disassembled in order to be sent into a storage facilities through a 50-diameter entrance and reassembled inside it.
