Ohio Sauerkraut Festival Orders 12,300 Pounds of Snow Floss Kraut for 35th Annual Waynesville Event -- October 9, 10 2004.

WAYNESVILLE, Ohio -- Record Number of Arts and Craft Booths - 500, plus 58 Food Booths

The Ohio Sauerkraut Festival committee reported that 12,300 pounds of Snow Floss kraut has been ordered for Waynesville's 35th Annual festival scheduled for October 9 and 10th this year. Fifty-eight food booths run by twenty-nine non-profit organizations from Waynesville will offer a variety of specialty dishes for this year's crowd, estimated to again reach at least 250,000.

A record number of juried arts and craft booths - over 500 -- have been assigned this year, thanks to expanded accommodations by the Chamber of Commerce. Vendors hailing from over twenty states will line the historic village's streets. A full schedule of live entertainment Saturday and Sunday will again be offered.

"We opened up new street areas for additional craft booths this year," said festival chairman, Ron Kronenberger. "The quality of the crafts bring attendees back year after year, and more vendors always apply than we can accommodate. This year we extended the craft area."

The festival is open from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. In addition to the live entertainment, the annual scholarship contest winner will be announced Saturday afternoon, with the award going to an outstanding Waynesville Area High School Senior. The "Best Cabbage Contest" will also be held Saturday afternoon.

The Ohio Sauerkraut Festival, organized by the Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce, was launched 35 years ago as a fund raiser for the Village's non-profit organizations. The unique food offerings, from sauerkraut pizza to sauerkraut fudge, combined with quality craft vendors from around the country make the festival one of the midwest's most popular festivals.

Festival sponsors, Snow Floss Kraut from Fremont, Ohio and the PepsiCola Bottling Company from Hamilton, Ohio, will again contribute to the festival awards. Many additional sponsors for the annual scholarship awards will be recognized during the event.
