A TALENTED youngster has proved Teesside's got talent after auditioning for a hit TV show.

Joe Gaunt, 10, a pupil at Galley Hill Primary in Guisborough, recently travelled down to Liverpool to audition for Britain's Got Talent 2011 in the hope of making it through to the next stage to wow the famous judges with his musical talent -playing the saxophone.

Joe has only been playing the instrument for two years but has already played in a number of his school musical performances -regularly wowing staff and fellow pupils.

Talking about his big day, Joe said: "Me and my mum went to Liverpool for the audition. When you get there you wait in a giant queue.

"While I was waiting, I got called out to go in the crowd part which they show at the beginning of the show. It was really good.

"After that we went into the waiting room and I waited to be called. I was a little bit nervous but mainly excited."

Joe added: "I have been playing the saxophone for about two years and really like it. Soon after I started playing it I would watch people on Britain's Got Talent and I thought I wanted to do that so I applied on the internet."

For the first stage of the audition process, Joe auditioned in front of the show's producers. He will now have to wait until February to hear if he will get the chance to perform in front of the likes of Simon Cowell and Ant and Dec.

Joe, from Skelton, said: "For my audition I played Bye Bye Blackbird.

"I just did my best and I really enjoyed it."

He added: "I won't find out until February if I have got through to the next stage of auditions but I had a really good day and have been telling my friends at school all about it."

His mum Sue, also mum to Tom, 23, said: "Joe has just really taken to the saxophone -it was his idea to audition and he applied for Britain's Got Talent himself.

"It was a wonderful day. The whole experience was fantastic.

"Even if he doesn't go any further he played really well. He has done us proud."
