Offside: Dowie is just plane crazy.

Byline: TOM HATTEN

IAIN Dowie may not be a high-flyer with Crystal Palace - but he has to be the biggest jet-setter in the Premiership.

That's because, fittingly, the Eagles boss is forever in the air...as he commutes from the family home in Bolton to Selhurst Park.

Dowie is racking up the air miles with British Airways on their Gatwick to Manchester shuttle and he has no plans to move south.

The family settled in Lancashire during Dowie's spell as boss at Oldham Athletic.

He said: "My two boys have settled into schools up there so I use the flighs to get back and see them as often as I can."

Dowie was handed an 18-month contract by Palace chairman Simon Jordan when he took over last season and it appears to be too short a term to uproot his family.

Dowie added: "We'll wait and see. If it becomes a longer-term relationship then clearly I will move them down.

"Being down here on my own is actually a good thing job-wise because it allows me to fully focus on the job in hand with no distractions.

"I can come and have a look at the academy at night or whatever and not have to worry about it."
