OFFICIAL AIRPORT

The ribbon has been cut to open Moosonee's first official airport. The community had utilized a makeshift terminal for about 20 years before a new terminal was opened earlier this summer. New air traffic control equipment was expected to be installed by the end of August. The $940,000 facility, located two kilometres from Moosonee, will handle approximately 400,000 passengers annually. The terminal, designed by B.H. Martin Consultants of Timmins and built by CGB Construction of Cochrane, will be operated by the Moosonee Development Area Board. Both Air Creebec and Canadian Partner will operate ticket counters in the terminal.
