Official: Israel Trying to Overshadow NAM Summit by Threatening Iran.
Speaking on Monday, Rezayee stressed the recent threats by Israeli officials about attacking Iran are "psychological warfare" and not real, and noted that Israel is making attempts to downplay the international effects of the NAM summit in Tehran.
The 16th NAM summit will be held in Tehran from August 26 to 31. Iran will assume the rotating presidency of the movement from Egypt for three years during the upcoming summit.
Rezayee, however, stated that Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to give a crushing response to Israel, and stated, "If the Zionists commit the folly and attack Iran, they will receive a crushing response from Islamic Republic's armed forces which will lead to their annihilation."
In similar remarks on Monday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi underlined the Iranian nation's full preparedness to push back enemy pressures and threats, and reiterated that the country's Armed Forces will give a swift and crushing response to any possible enemy attack.
"The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are currently at the highest level of defensive and military preparedness and will give a crushing response to any aggressors," Vahidi said.
He also dismissed the Israeli war rhetoric against the Islamic Republic as "worthless," saying the Israeli regime makes such assertions out of sheer fear.
"The Zionists are today even afraid of their own shadow (and are) therefore trying to control this disappointing atmosphere by brouhaha and psychological warfare, but should know that propaganda will not resolve their problems," Vahidi said.
