"Iran stands the first in terms of power generation in the Middle-East," Mahmoud Dasht-Bozorgi, an advisor to the Managing-Director of the Iranian Power Development Company (IPDC), told reporters in Iran's Northwestern city of Zanjan on Monday.
He announced that Iran has also ranked 15th in the world in power generation capacity, and added that the country plans to build more power plants throughout the country and increase efficiency of its active plants.
He added that Iran is also active in construction of power plants in Iraq, and noted, "The Ministry of Energy is ready to build power plants in other countries as well."
Iran exported 1,139mw of power to Iraq on Saturday. Meantime, the volume of electricity swaps with other neighboring states also witnessed an eye-catching increase on Saturday.

Earlier in June, Iran's Deputy Energy Minister for Electricity and Energy Affairs Mohammad Behzad said Iran has signed several contracts with its neighboring countries in this regard, which will help boost its electricity exports.
Iran exported some 8.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity during the last Iranian year, which indicates a 29-percent increase in comparison with the corresponding period of the preceding year, he added.
