Officer hurt in violent disturbance; RIOT.

A POLICE officer was injured during disturbances yesterday which saw CS spray used to control trouble makers.

The officer sustained a minor injury to his head during the incident in the Diamond area of Ballycastle, Co Antrim.

It happened at around 2.20am when police attempted to break up several fights.

Officers deployed CS spray when a number of the revellers became aggressive towards them.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

The incident comes two weeks after similar disturbances in the area.

In that incident two men were taken to hospital.
