Obituary: Messermeister mourns loss of founder Bernd Dressler.
Bernd Dressier, founder and president of Messermeister, died on November 17, 2002. Dressier founded Messermeister in Ojai, Calif., in 1984 to market premier German cutlery in the U.S. and Canada. He leaves behind his wife and business partner Debbie Dressler and his daughters.
"Bernd Dressler was a true leader in the manufacturing and marketing of cutlery, working tirelessly to make knives safer and more functional," said Dean Laffey, longtime friend and business associate. "He brought to the forefront of cutlery such innovations as a rocking-action and collarless bolster on chef's knives, as well as the extraordinarily sharp elite edge."
The company is committed to carrying out Bernd's dream under the leadership of Debbie Dressier. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Bernd Dressler's memory.
