Obituary: Bernhard Koller Bernhard Koller (Beni to his friends) passed away at the age of 63.

Bernhard Koller (Beni to his friends) passed away at the age of 63. For more than 24 years Koller was the face of Xorella in the textile machinery business. While talking to the team of PTJ editors during an informal meeting at Fongs Europe, Stephan Kehry and Roland Adrion stated: "We used to call him Mr. Xorella. His enthusiasm and experience in the field of yarn conditioning was appreciated worldwide. One of the most important trait was his commitment towards the needs and requirements of his business partners. Having lost a great colleague, visionary and friend we are sure that his spirit will remain in our company and in many spinning mills worldwide."

His friends in the industry including myself used to call him Beni. He served as an area sales manager for key markets of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and later as General Manager, Xorella AG, Wettingen (CH). The first time I met him was at the time of ITMA 1999 in Paris, when he just had started working with Pakistani spinners and SIMAG the agency of Xorella. It was also my first ITMA. It was a quite a shock for me to now that Mr. Koller passed away due to a heart attack during his family holidays in Paris.

Mr. Haris Yonus Kazi from SIMAG said, "Over the years, as interaction with the spinning industry increased, his customers, had started to call him The Professor. He was an unforgettable man and he taught us lot about yarn conditioning, steaming and heat setting. His contribution to the spinning industry of Pakistan can only be gauged from the fact, that not only he sold lot of conditioning machines, but was passionately involved with the technical directors as well as technicians of the customers and thus earning the affectionate title of The professor. His last visit to Pakistan was at IGATEX Exhibition in October 2012."

Bernhard Koller and Thomas Bachmann, Area Sales Managers of Xorella with Haris Yonus Kazi of Simag (Pvt) Limited.

"He visited Pakistan during IGATEX 2012," remembers Saleem Tanoli, FAKT Exhibitions,"Bernhard Koller was an amazing man, very friendly, and he told me that really enjoys coming to Pakistan and given a chance would come again and again. But life takes strange turns and he is no more there, and I know that spinners in Pakistan including the agency SIMAG will miss him and his competent personality. I extend my condolences to Xorella team in Switzerland and also Fongs Europe."

Klaus Kriesche for the last six months is looking into the product management of the XORELLA machines. Mr. Kriesche has worked for Xorella before and knows not only the machines very well, but is still very familiar with the FONG'S network. His task is to initiate all the necessary modifications to the XO - machines securing their success into the future.

Pakistan Textile Journal would like to offer our condolences on the sad demise of Bernhard Koller. Editor. Amina Baqai.
