Samuel Ettinger, camp owner and director of Camp Towanda in Honesdale Pennsylvania, passed away recently. Known as an inspiring leader among youth, he touched many lives with his work at Camp Towanda and as a teacher and principal in the New York Public School System.
Kay Allen, the widow of Clarence ll. Allen, founder of Camp Chewonki in Wiscasset, Maine, died recently. According to Don Hudson of Chewonki, the camp owes its standards and sense of excellence to Kay's attention to detail.
Harrison--Former Assistant Executive Director of the American Camping Association
Gerard A. Harrison passed away at his home in Hancock, New Hampshire. He was the assistant executive director of the American Camping Association (ACA) for ten years. For twenty-two years he was a professor in the recreation department at Springfield College, and during those years, he operated a children's day camp.
