Edward Maas

A graveside service will be held June 10 for Edward Reinhold Maas of Eugene, who died June 4 of a stroke. He was 89.

Maas was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Portland to Reinhold and Anna Dahms Maas. He married Ruth Fisher in Portland on Oct. 17, 1946.

He graduated from Washington High School in Portland, where he lived until he moved to Eugene in 1959.

Maas was a supervisor for Southern Pacific Railroad.

He enjoyed building live steam locomotives and taking photographs of street cars in Portland, and he installed a theater pipe organ in his home. He was a member of the Northwest Live Steamers, the American Theater Organ Society and United Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carl of Renton, Wash., and Paul of Puyallup, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at River View Cemetery in Portland. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Lutheran Church in Eugene. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Lutheran Church in Eugene or the Assistance League of Eugene.

Katherine Eisele

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held June 10 for Katherine M. Eisele of Springfield, who died June 6 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 79.

Eisele was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Payola, Kan., to Arthur and Cormilla Cooper Hester. She married Russell Eisele in Eugene on Aug. 26, 1952.

She worked as a dietician at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Her interests included gardening, genealogy and travel.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary of Springfield; two daughters, Marilyn Lundquist of Hoquiam, Wash., and Patty Gansler of Kelso, Wash.; a brother, Jim Hester of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Gussie Hester and Gracie Cook, both of Milwaukie; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grand- children.

A grandson, Steven Lundquist, died in 1969.

Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
