Barack Obama shed a tear as he thanked young campaign workers, the day after he was re-elected as President of the United States.

His campaign released a short video of Obama's address to workers and volunteers at his Chicago headquarters.

Becoming emotional, the President said that running for office had come "full circle".

"Because what you guys have done means that the work I'm doing is important. And I'm really proud of that. I'm really proud of all of you," Obama said while wiping away a tear.

All of the volunteers and campaign workers then burst into applause.
