OXFORD GLYCOSYSTEMS APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF NORTH AMERICAN OPERATIONS

 OXFORD, England, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Oxford GlycoSystems (OGS) today announced the appointment of Gary A. Alianell, Ph.D., to the newly formed position of director of North American Operations. In this position, Dr. Alianell will be responsible for the company's U.S. sales and service operations.

"Dr. Alianell's worldwide marketing and sales experience of instruments for the life sciences and molecular biology industries will enhance our successful U.S. base of operations."
 Dr. Alianell has more than 12 years experience in the medical instrument industry. He joins OGS from Molecular Devices Corporation, a medical instrument company, where he was vice president, marketing and sales. In this position, Dr. Alianell was responsible for worldwide sales and marketing of analytical biosensor instruments and support material. Previously, Dr. Alianell spent 10 years at Beckman Instruments, Inc. in a variety of senior positions, including program manager, new product development. In this capacity, he managed strategic product planning and development for instruments and consumables for the life sciences and microbiology markets.

 Dr. Alianell earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Carolina and a Post Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Biophysics from the University of Houston.
