OWENS-CORNING VIS PLANT TO ADD A SECOND INSULATION LINE

VIS, Belgium, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Owens-Corning (NYSE: OCF) board of directors today approved construction of a second insulation production line at its Vis, Belgium plant. Projected start- up date of the new insulation line is the first quarter of 1995.
With the Vis insulation plant currently operating above its capacity, the decision is based on an anticipated European economic recovery, increasing demand due to Western European immigration, and new regulations requiring more energy efficient housing.
"The new line will position us to grow with the market," said general manager, Paul Leonardelli. "It will also complement the existing line and allows us greater flexibility and efficiency in the insulation materials that we produce."
The Owens-Corning Vis plant currently employs approximately 300 people and serves France, Germany, Northern Italy, the U.K. and the Benelux countries. Additional job openings are expected for second line operations.
Owens-Corning began producing insulation at Vis after entering into a joint venture with Bayer in 1978. In 1985, Owens-Corning gained total ownership of the plant.
Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio is the

world's largest supplier of glass fiber insulation, reinforcements, and a major manufacturer of polyester and vinyl ester resins. More homes and buildings are insulated for maximum comfort with Owens-Corning insulation than with any other type or brand.
