OWENS & MINOR, INC. TO OPEN DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN SEATTLE

 RICHMOND, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Owens & Minor, Inc. (NYSE: OMI) announced today that it plans to open a Custom Distribution Center in Seattle. The nation's second largest distributor of medical and surgical supplies has been servicing this area from its established distribution center in Portland, Ore. The opening is planned for prior to year-end.
 G. Gilmer Minor III, president and chief executive officer, stated: "The opening of this new center will allow us to provide stockless and just-in-time services to the Seattle marketplace. We continue to feel that efficient, low cost distribution on a local basis is a mandate, especially with healthcare reform on the horizon. Our goal is to be as close to our customers as possible, and opening in Seattle is another example of our commitment to that end."
 Owens & Minor is a wholesale distributor of medical and surgical supplies, pharmaceuticals and other related products to hospitals and medical care facilities. The company has 34 distribution centers serving 41 states and the District of Columbia.
