OUR Gorgeous Attractive Amateurs; Sexy Gaels net praise from US women in poll.

Byline: KATHY ARMSTRONG

A THOUSAND American women were polled to see what gaelic player sends them GAA-GAA and the results are as shocking as Wicklow winning Sam Maguire.

Bookies Paddy Power conducted the research in what they described as the "clash of the lash" and the results found one stand-out winner.

Dublin hurler Shane Durkin is the association's most beautiful man while Westmeath's Paddy Holloway and Cork's Eoin Cadogan finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Shockingly, usual GAA pin-up Bernard Brogan was nowhere near the top 10 and the talented Dublin footballer finished 42nd.

But that's not as bad as Tyrone footballers who were voted the ugliest men in the association.

On the team front, Galway would appear to be popular Stateside with the footballers edging out Dublin's hurlers and Sligo's footballers to claim top spot.

Paddy Power also asked the women a number of questions about themselves to break down the results in terms of demographics, which revealed:

Over 60s adore Gary O'Donnell (Galway Footballers)

Homosexual women found Niall McKeever (Antrim Footballers) to be the most attractive

Eoin Cadogan (Cork Footballers) came out on top amongst women who have had plastic surgery

Republican voters gave their support to Paddy Holloway (Westmeath Footballers) while Democrat Voters opted for Shane Durkin (Dublin Hurlers), and

Women who think that 9/11 was a cover-up believed Kieran Joyce (Kilkenny Hurlers) to be the best looking.

One man who won't mind the attention is poll topper Shane Durkin.

He said: "The great thing about winning this award is that I've been able to donate the prize money to the Cian Durkin Foundation.

"We set this foundation up as a family some years ago after I lost my nephew Cian to cancer."

But Shane knows he's in for a rough time when he meets back up with this teammates.

He said: "I'm sure the Dublin lads will give me plenty of stick once they find out.

"However it'll be nothing that I've not heard before."
