OTS NAMES TIMOTHY BURNISTON TO HEAD SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Timothy R. Burniston has been named deputy assistant director for specialized programs at the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), succeeding Jerauld C. Kluckman, who is retiring after more than 30 years of government service.
Burniston will oversee operations of five areas: compliance, trust, electronic data processing, management information systems controls and consumer affairs.
Burniston has been with OTS and its predecessor agency for five years and served as senior program manager for compliance in the Specialized Programs Division.
"With the cleanup of the thrift industry virtually complete, OTS is refocusing on the industry's primary function -- providing housing finance so that Americans from all walks of life can realize their dream of home ownership," said Timothy Ryan, OTS director. "One of our roles is to ensure that thrift institutions comply with laws and regulations regarding mortgage lending. Tim Burniston will have an important role in carrying out this responsibility," Ryan said.
Among its activities, Burniston's unit develops OTS' examination policies regarding fair lending and consumer protection, an integral part of OTS' mission.
Prior to his employment with OTS, Burniston spent 11 years with the Federal Reserve System, where he held positions ranging from regulations analyst to senior review examiner. Burniston has a bachelor of arts degree from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pa., and a master of business administration degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
