OSU women run to victory.

SALEM - Kaitlin Poggi placed fourth as Oregon State had five runners in the top 24 to win the Gold Division at the Chuck Bowles Invitational women's cross country meet Saturday at Bush Park.

The Beavers scored 40 points, and Boise State was second at 120 in the 19-team Gold Division.

"We had a great day," OSU coach Kelly Sullivan said. "I liked the way we handled just about every aspect of the race. It got pretty warm by the time we raced at about 11:40 a.m., the trails were dusty and it was a big field."

Poggi finished in 17 minutes, 38.70 seconds, nearly 30 seconds faster than her time in the same race a year ago. Neoma Palmer was sixth, followed by teammates Krista Stangel in 15th and Hayley Oveson in 17th. Nicole Crawford rounded out the scorers, finishing 24th.

Trujillo paces Oregon men at Willamette Invitational

SALEM - Oregon's Esteban Trujillo placed 11th on Saturday to lead the Ducks to a fourth-place finish at the Willamette Invitational cross country meet at Bush Park.

Trujillo covered the 8-kilometer race in 24 minutes, 44 seconds, while teammates Michael McGrath placed 16th, Vertin Alvarez placed 21st, Keith Laverty placed 43rd, Blake Flanders was 68th, Ian Terpin finished 89th and Stephen Oliver was 104th.

UC Davis won the meet with 70 points while Team XO was second with 92. Lane Community College was 11th with 298.

UO had eight men compete unattached. Daniel Mercado was fourth in 24:14 and Matt Dettman finished eighth in 24:40, followed by Ken Scoggin in 56th (25:40), Kevin McNally 61st (25:43), Vincent D'Onofrio 80th (26:03), David Bondi 100th (26:24), Cameron Carter 119th (26:40) and Zach Done 154th (27:32).

Joe Churchill led Lane, finishing 15th.

Wilgus leads Lane women to soccer victory

SEATTLE - Kori Wilgus scored two goals, and Cattie Cram added a goal and an assist, and Lane Community College defeated Shoreline 4-0 in NWAACC women's soccer Saturday.

Shawna Boyer also scored for Lane (8-1, 8-0), and Andrea Shoop posted her second consecutive shutout.

Erickson lifts NCC men

past Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Greg Erickson scored and assisted the game-winning goal Saturday, and Northwest Christian College beat Walla Walla College 2-1 in men's soccer.

Erickson scored on a pass from Tucker Kellar in the 17th minute and assisted Jaime Urenda in the 26th minute.

Cuyler Zeigler earned his second victory of the season for the Beacons (9-7).

Fort Vancouver tops

Generals to stay unbeaten

Bryan Canter scored two goals, including the game-winner, on Saturday, and the Fort Vancouver Pioneers beat the Eugene Generals 6-4 in a Northern Pacific Hockey League game at Lane County Ice.

Fort Vancouver (6-0) took a 1-0 lead before the Generals (3-3) scored three goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first period.

Steven Slattery, Ryan Schank and Larry Bankenbring each scored.

Schank added the Generals' final goal, and Nick Mayne had 24 saves for Eugene.
