 DANBURY, Conn., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- OSi Specialties, Inc. today announced the appointment of senior officers for the new corporation. Formed in March 1993 by DLJ Merchant Banking Partners L.P., OSi Specialties acquired, on July 1, 1993, Union Carbide Corporation's silicones business. It is a global chemical company and leading manufacturer and marketer of specialty fluids, organofunctional silanes and urethane additives.
 As previously announced, David I. Barton is chairman and chief executive officer, and Thomas P. Leyden is executive vice president and chief operating officer of OSi Specialties. Mr. Barton has been associated with the chemicals industry for nearly 30 years and was successively an officer at Loctite Corporation, Reichhold Chemical Company and, most recently, senior vice president and general manager of International Specialty Products Company.
 Mr. Leyden joined OSi Specialties from Union Carbide where he had a 32-year career in chemicals and plastics sales and product and marketing management, and was vice president and general manager of the silicones business at the time of its acquisition.
 Other officers of OSi Specialties are:
 Camillo J. DiFrancesco, vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. DiFrancesco's 21-year career in financial management began in 1972 when he joined the accounting firm of Peat Marwick, Mitchell and Company as an accountant. In 1976, he joined Hercules Inc. and held several financial posts ultimately becoming manager of banking. In 1983, he was named vice president-finance and control and chief financial officer of Himont Inc., and for a year prior to joining OSi Specialties was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Robertson-Ceco Corporation.
 James H. Cornell, vice president, general counsel and secretary. Mr. Cornell's legal career spans 17 years. He served successively as an associate for the New York law firm Breed, Abbott and Morgan; as a legal officer, including vice president-law, of Kiewit-Continental, Inc. (formerly The Continental Group, Inc.); and for the past six years as vice president, general counsel and secretary of EnviroSource, Inc.
 Robert A. Roeder, corporate controller. Previous to his new appointment, Mr.Roeder was associated with Union Carbide for 23 years, most recently in international controller and accounting management positions.
 Dr. Mary L. Gum, vice president, specialty fluids. Dr. Gum was associated with Union Carbide's silicones business for 16 years in research and development, business and product management posts, primarily in the fluids segment.
 Dr. Mark A. Spivack, vice president, organofunctional silanes. Dr. Spivack spent 27 years with Union Carbide, initially as a scientist in research and development, and successively in licensing, product, marketing and new business management posts. On transition of the silicones business to OSi Specialties, he was worldwide business and marketing director, organosilicons.
 David N. Verner, vice president, urethane additives. Mr. Verner joined Union Carbide in 1970. His career included assignments in manufacturing, environmental protection, distribution, business management, and most recently as worldwide business director for urethane additives.
 Lynn W. Phair, vice president, operations. Mr. Phair was with Union Carbide for 36 years, 28 of them at the South Charleston, W.Va. plant in various engineering, manufacturing and management assignments. In 1985 he became director of organosilicons operations and plant manager at Sistersville, W.Va., where he will continue to be based.
 Timothy W. Kidman, vice president, human resources. Mr. Kidman's 25-year career in personnel has included management assignments at IBM, Xerox Corporation, Exxon, Mead Ventures and, most recently, as vice president - human resources at Reuters America Inc.
 Daniel M. Snopkowski, corporate treasurer. Prior to joining OSi Specialties, Mr. Snopkowski was vice president and treasurer, Card Establishment Services, Inc. Previous associations were with Sprague Technologies, Inc., as treasurer, and Enhanced Telephone Services, Inc., a Citicorp subsidiary, as chief financial officer.
 OSi Specialties has also named three regional vice presidents:
 John F. Edwards, vice president-Europe. Mr. Edwards was associated with Union Carbide for 36 years in various management posts in specialty chemicals, urethane intermediates and silicones. In 1986, he became area business director for the silicones group of Union Carbide-Europe, based in Geneva, Switzerland.
 David A. Reid, vice president, Asia-Pacific Region. Mr. Reid joined Union Carbide in 1976 and has served in marketing and commercial posts in Asia including, since 1985, as business director-specialty chemicals and managing director of Union Carbide and New Zealand companies.
 Joao Texeira Soares, vice president, South American Region. Mr. Soares spent 32 years with Union Carbide do Brasil in several operational and commercial assignments, including, since 1984, as a director. He also was marketing director of Union Carbide Pan-America.
