OSC - RE: OXBRIDGE SECURITIES INC.
TORONTO, Oct. 1 /CNW/ - The Ontario Securities Commission (the "Commission") announced today the Ontario Court (General Division) today dismissed an application by Oxbridge Securities Inc. ("Oxbridge") for leave to apply to that court for an order in the nature of prohibition. The order sought was to prevent the Commission from proceeding with a hearing against Oxbridge which is scheduled to commence on Monday, October 5th. The issue on the application was whether there is a reasonable apprehension of bias in the Commission with respect to certain matters alleged in the Notice of Hearing against Oxbridge. Mr. Justice Hoolihan found that on the facts before the Court, there was absolutely no evidence of bias, nor of a reasonable apprehension of bias on the part of the Commission. The hearing is scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m. in the hearing room on the eighth floor of the Commission's offices at 20 Queen Street West, Toronto.
