OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Update Seeded To Developers, Expected To Address Thunderbolt Display Issues And More.

Apple started providing its developers with the first beta build of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Friday. The update is available for download from the ( Mac Developer Center web portal and has been given a build number of 12B13.

According to ( 9TO5Mac , Apple said that the initial OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 seed has no known issues. Instead, the Cupertino tech giant asked developers to focus on other areas of testing including Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange in Mail, PAC Proxies in Safari, SMB, USB, and WiFi and Audio when connected to the Apple Thunderbolt Display.

A number of MacBook Air owners reportedly experienced audio issues while connecting their devices to Apple's Thunderbolt display. They complained about "static distortion and crackling emanating from the speakers built into the 27-inch screen's chassis," ( Apple Insider reported.

By requesting testers to evaluate WiFi and audio when connected to a Thunderbolt display, Apple has indicated its attempts to address issues in this area.

"Apple has historically aimed to push out its first maintenance release for major operating systems milestones in a swift manner, suggesting we could see a formal release of the software in the coming weeks," the report added.

The delta update - where only items that have changed are downloaded - takes up 36.4MB of space on a Mountain Lion Mac, ( MacRumors reported.

9TO5Mac cited a reader, who installed OS X 10.8.1 update, saying that the Facebook integration is not yet included. The release doesn't seem to have an iMessage phone number merging either.

Reports surfaced Wednesday saying that Apple was planning to seed an update of the latest OS to AppleSeed and Mac developers, taking it to the version 10.8.1. Although it was unclear what exact changes the first Mountain Lion update would bring, it was highly expected to address all the issues that have been reported so far by vigilant users, especially the battery drainage issue on MacBooks.
