OS/2 routing & scheduling software.
The introduction of a new software series for routing and scheduling has been announced by Roadnet Technologies, Inc. According to the company, the Roadnet 5000 system was developed to provide distributors with the latest in technology for distribution management.
Roadnet's newest software series features the OS/2 PM platform, an automatic highway-network travel-time model and GUI (Graphical User Interface).
Roadnet says that the IBM-supported OS/2 operating system provides significant increases in overall system performance. The company also asserts that multi-tasking capabilities provide increased router productivity and time savings by allowing more than one application to run at a time. The OS/2 platform will also boost processing speed and memory utilization, Roadnet says.
The company states that the Roadnet automatic highway network trave time model, which computes distance according to actual road networks, offers accuracy in time and distance calculations. Roadnet says the network is delivered complete, with no requirements for linking delivery accounts to the infrastructure.
In addition, Roadnet points to a new windowing feature provided by the PM GUI that allows users to view several operations at once. A router, for example, could analyze and change one route via the route editor, and at the same time view the geographical sequence of the entire day's routes on the system's detail maps.
