 ORTHOPEDIC SERVICES ACQUIRES MCFARLEN & ASSOCIATES
 AS INITIAL TEXAS ENTRY
 VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Orthopedic Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: OSII), the leading provider of patient care services in the orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) industry, today announced its acquisition of McFarlen & Associates of the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
 McFarlen & Associates has been in the orthotic and prosthetic industry for over 15 years. It has six locations and employs 15 full- time practitioners. Owner Jim McFarlen states that he chose the merger with Orthopedic Services after conferring with other owners of companies acquired by OSI. "We realize that there has been a change in the delivery of orthotic and prosthetic services across the country. We received good reports on OSI from people we know and respect within the industry. I feel the acquisition is in the best interest of all our people and in the best interest of the delivery of O&P services now and in the future." McFarlen, who will retire from active practice, will remain with OSI as a consultant.

 OSI is the leading provider of patient care services in the orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation segment of the health care services industry. OSI currently provides services through 103 patient care centers in 20 states.
 Orthotic rehabilitation is the fitting, design and fabrication of custom-made braces and support devices for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions resulting from illness, injury, or congenital abnormalities. Prosthetic rehabilitation is the fitting and fabrication of custom-made artificial limbs required by people who have suffered the loss of a limb from vascular disease, diabetes, cancer, or traumatic injuries.
