ORTEMS Aligns With Oracle to Deliver Plant-Centric APS to Mid-Market High-Tech Manufacturers; Proven Advanced Planning and Scheduling -APS- Solution Linked Directly to Oracle Applications.

CHICAGO, LONDON, and LYON, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--

ORTEMS SA today announced certification and participation in Oracle Corporation's new FastForward(SM) ManufacturingRPM program, and the general availability of ORTEMS-High Tech(SM), a plant-centric advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solution tailored specifically to the requirements of mid-sized high-tech manufacturing companies. ORTEMS-High Tech blends software, consulting and integration services, education, and support to speed implementation and ROI for high-tech component assembly manufacturers.

ORTEMS-High Tech is fully integrated with Oracle(R) Applications Releases 10.7 and 11.02, and is newly certified as part of Oracle Alliance Cooperative Applications Initiative (CAI). The ORTEMS APS solution measurably improves companies' profitability and portfolio value by synchronizing manufacturing operations, boosting on-time delivery performance, and shrinking inventory for components and finished goods.

"We are excited to join forces with Oracle to provide a proven APS solution for mid-market high-tech manufacturers," said Rene Desvignes, CEO ORTEMS. "Our bundled solution seamlessly integrates the world's most advanced ERP system with the world's most powerful Plant Centric APS software. The value for mid-market companies is low cost of ownership, ease of integration, and rapid time to benefit."

ORTEMS High-Tech enables manufacturing managers and planners to create optimal and feasible plans and schedules for meeting forecasts and order commitments while maximizing customer service levels and minimizing inventory. It performs plant-level production planning and scheduling while simultaneously considering all capacity, material and customer constraints. ORTEMS dynamic synchronization of plant-level planning and scheduling is completely Web-enabled for fast implementation and ease of use.

ORTEMS participation in Oracle's Cooperative Applications Initiative enables customers to seamlessly integrate ORTEMS P(TM) and SRP(TM) with Oracle applications. The integration is achieved through a series of application program interfaces (APIs) enabling rapid data access through the ORTEMS Visual Interface Configurator (VIC) . VIC is an object-oriented, easy-to-use visual tool, which provides for quicker configuration and greater stability and maintenance of the interfaces.

ORTEMS SRP provides constraint-based finite capacity scheduling and optimization of order sequencing to provide peak plant performance and reliable available-to-promise at least cost. ORTEMS SRP simultaneously considers materials, machines, and skilled labor in a single finite capacity MRP calculation loop. ORTEMS P works to the same result, but from work orders generated by the material plan in the ERP calculation. Ad-hoc user-defined criterion drives all calculations to ensure a schedule that best meets the current business requirements.

ORTEMS, headquartered in Lyon, France, is the leader in plant-centric, web-enabled coordinated planning and production scheduling optimization solutions for the discrete, continuous and semi-continuous process industries. ORTEMS Americas' is a wholly owned subsidiary of ORTEMS S.A., and is headquartered in Lisle, in suburban Chicago, IL. ORTEMS provides software, consulting and integration services to multinational manufacturers seeking through greater coordination between enterprise planning and optimized plant scheduling and execution, to increase their revenues, profitability and Client satisfaction through substantial reduction of inventories, lead time and WIP and increase of thruput and assets utilization through a realistic and achievable plan. ORTEMS' object component architecture and Visual Interface Configurator (VIC) technology speeds and eases integration and time to benefit. ORTEMS has installed over 250 systems around the world demonstrating fast implementations and quick ROI.
