ORME CLOSED AFTER ROCK FALL.

A ROAD was closed for more than four hours after a rock fall.

Conwy Council had to close Marine Drive on the Great Orme in Llandudno between the toll house and St Tudno's Road following the incident.

Engineers were called out to inspect the area and make it safe.

The council said access to the Orme, cemetery, lighthouse and the Rest and Be Thankful cafe were all available via Ty Gwyn Road.

The road was re-opened at around 12.45pm.

Images from the scene indicated that a small boulder had fallen from the rock face before smashing into pieces along the road.

It is not the first time the road has had to be closed due to rock falls, with several incidents in recent years which have led to the closure of the road.

Often, it is minor rock falls which lead to the closure while engineers ensure the rock face is safe for motorists and pedestrians.
