ORCAD ANNOUNCES MAPS, A NEW WORLDWIDE MARKETING ALLIANCE PROGRAM

BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- OrCAD today announced it has formed a new program, called the Marketing Alliance For Productive Solutions (MAPS), to provide a fuller product line for its customers worldwide. The MAPS program will provide OrCAD marketing and distribution, on a non-exclusive basis, to U.S. and international companies making products that enhance the value and productivity of the OrCAD total EDA solution. The first MAPS participants are HyperLynx Inc. (Redmond, Wash.), a pioneer in transmission line analysis and Wise Software Solutions Inc. (Beaverton), a developer of Gerber viewing and editing tools.
Under the MAPS program, OrCAD will provide participants with marketing support that includes coverage in joint press releases, brochures and direct mail, and a catalog that will list all the MAPS products available through the reseller channel. The distribution support includes the stocking and selling of the participating companies' products through OrCAD's reseller channel and an introduction to OrCADS's large installed base. Customers will have the convenience of being able to order from one reseller on one purchase form, all of the OrCAD products as well as the other products produced by the companies participating in MAPS.
"We formed the MAPS program to provide a superior solution for our customers," stated Frank Costa, OrCAD's vice president of marketing. "We know that one company cannot provide all the tools required by a design engineer. This program offers supporting tools that not only interface with our tools through our ESP Design Environment, but also are used or recommended by us. These additional tools are then supported and upgraded by the MAPS participants that are motivated and staffed to make their tools the best possible."
OrCAD's line of EDA tools provides a complete design solution for printed circuit boards, field programmable gate arrays and programmable logic devices from schematic capture and logic design synthesis, through simulation, to printed circuit board layout. The company targets the PC environment, and its DOS products have achieved an installed base of more than 76,000, the largest in the industry. More than 50 companies supplying design tools that interface with the OrCAD product line belong to OrCAD's Associates Program, of which MAPS is a part. The company's U.S. operations are located in Beaverton and its European operations in Paris. OrCAD distributes its products through a world-wide network of resellers.
