ORBITAL-POWERED SPORTS CAR UNVEILED

 ORBITAL-POWERED SPORTS CAR UNVEILED
PERTH, Western Australia, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pininfarina, one

of the world's leading vehicle-design and styling studios, has unveiled a sports car powered by a two-stroke Orbital Combustion Process (OCP) engine.
The Italian-based industrial group Tuesday night presented its latest vehicle design project, dubbed the "Ethos", to a specially convened news conference on the eve of the Turin Motor Show.
Pininfarina has developed a formidable reputation for vehicle design and styling excellence by creating and producing designs for such car makers as Ferrari, General Motors, Fiat, Honda, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Peugeot and Lancia. Some of the company's recent accomplishments include the Ferrari Testarossa and Cadillac Allante, for which some production is carried out at Pininfarina's facilities in Italy.
The Ethos is a futuristic-looking mid-engined, two-seat sportster which has been developed using advanced environmentally friendly technology such as Orbital's lightweight three-cylinder OCP engine, recyclable plastics panels for the body, aluminum extruded space frame and non-polluting water-based paints.
The Pininfarina-designed Ethos joins a broadening front of vehicles being developed in design studios around the world specifically incorporating the revolutionary OCP engine technology developed by Australia's Orbital Engine Company, a subsidiary of Orbital Engine Corporation Limited (NYSE: OE).
Earlier this year, GM unveiled the 100-mile-per-gallon "Ultralite" at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The world's largest vehicle producer had previously displayed the "Micro", which was also fitted with GM's own variant of Orbital's two-stroke engine. Ford has also displayed concept cars such as the Ghia "Zag", fitted with an OCP engine, at international auto shows over the past two years. Ken Johnsen, the chairman and chief executive of the company's subsidiary Orbital Engine Company USA Inc., told the Turin news conference that the Ethos was another example of how vehicle producers could use the OCP engine's reduced size and weight to design more appealing vehicles while reducing emissions and improving fuel consumption.
A number of the world's top 10 vehicle producers, including GM, Ford and Fiat, have entered into agreements which give them the right to incorporate Orbital's engine technology into their production vehicles. These producers have acknowledged the benefits of the OCP technology.
Johnsen said that initial independent testing in government and industry laboratories had confirmed that the OCP engine can meet the stringent emission levels being mandated for the 21st century and that programs were under way to meet these levels at high mileage.
He said that the Ethos vehicle was a practical embodiment of how to combine the best features of the low-polluting, fuel-efficient OCP engine with an elegantly designed, practical and environmentally friendly overall vehicle package.
Orbital Engine Corporation Limited is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (OEC) and the New York Stock Exchange (OE).
