 ORANGEWOOD CHILDREN'S HOME DIRECTOR SAYS
DON'T FORGET THE TEENS THIS SEASON
ORANGE, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of advertising, marketing and public relations professionals will be streamlining their holiday celebrating this year, all to benefit the Orangewood Children's Home. The Orange County Communications Industry Federation, better known in the industry as the OCCIF, announces that several of its member organizations will be foregoing their own holiday parties this year for one charity event that will benefit the children of Orangewood. In counseling OCCIF on the home's needs, director Bob Theemling advised the group to remember the teenagers this year.
"As far as holiday donations go, anything is welcome," said Theemling. "But we get a lot of stuffed animals and wonderful toys for infants and toddlers because these gifts are fun to buy. Our teenagers often get short-changed when it comes to holiday gifts, whether it's clothes, sporting goods, books, tapes, whatever."
A home for abused, neglected, or "in transition" children, Orangewood is raising money to build a nursery to care for drug- addicted infants requiring protective care. The majority of the event proceeds, as well as donated toys and other gifts, will go to Orangewood.
The celebration itself will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14. Dubbed the "California White Event," it will be held on the 16th floor penthouse of the Wells Fargo Building, 2030 Main Street in Irvine. Koll Management Services in Irvine is donating use of the space for the event. In attendance will be advertising, marketing, public relations and communications professionals from all over Orange County, and some from Los Angeles County.
Publisher of CA AdNEWS, John Good, says, "This is a great opportunity for Orange County's advertising community to get in the spirit of things, help out Orangewood, and have some fun at the same time." Good adds that the current economic climate dictates the single event, rather than each of the 16 member organizations holding their own holiday parties.
