ORANGE BANKING CORPORATION TO MERGE INTO AMSOUTH BANCORPORATION TODAY

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., and ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Orange Banking Corporation in Orlando, parent company of Orange Bank, will merge into AmSouth Bancorporation (NYSE: ASO) at the close of business today.
 The parent company's merger into AmSouth will have no immediate effect on Orange Bank's customers, who can continue to conduct their banking business as usual.
 AmSouth anticipates that the consolidation of Orange Bank into AmSouth Bank of Florida will be completed by mid-year 1994.
