OPUS ONE NAMED DETROIT MONTHLY 'RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR'
DETROIT, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In its 12th Annual Restaurant of the Year competition, Detroit Monthly magazine has bestowed its coveted honor on downtown Detroit's Opus One. Senior Editor Ric Bohy, who wrote the Restaurant of the Year cover story, felt that Opus One has continually met the highest standards of food, service and atmosphere in its five-year history. The award was clinched in 1993 because of Opus One's ability to rise above the problems that are thinning the downtown Detroit restaurant population and become a destination in itself. "And to those who come, it speaks of merit and worth and excellence in Detroit in tangible ways going far beyond the empty boosterism that fools no one," Bohy wrote. "This award is an affirmation that recognition in this customer- driven business comes meal by meal," James Kokas, Opus One co-owner, said. "It's a great honor, one attained because of customer loyalty and a dedicated, hard working staff. We thank everyone who has had a hand in making our restaurant a Detroit success story," Kokas added. Opus One is at 565 E. Larned. The "Restaurant of the Year" story will be in Detroit Monthly's May issue, available on newsstands after April 26. -0- 4/21/93 /CONTACT: Colleen Robar of Detroit Monthly, 313-446-6039/
