NEW YORK, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In a united effort to foster global discussions among derivative scholars, exchange officials and industry executives, the American Stock Exchange and the Oslo Stock Exchange are co-sponsoring the Seventh International Options & Futures Colloquium in Oslo, Norway, on Nov. 8-9.
Led by keynote speakers Myron Scholes, co-founder of the Black & Scholes Option Pricing Model, and J. Carter Beese Jr., commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the colloquium will explore the latest concerns and issues facing derivative securities today.
The two-day meeting will enable worldwide academia, exchange officials and industry executives to share their latest derivative research, ideas, theories and practices. Topics to be addressed include the impact of options on capital markets; index, equity and bond options and futures; new pricing models, strategies and methods of volatility forecasting; and a review of innovative exchange and over-the-counter traded products.
European and Middle Eastern derivative perspectives will be heard from such distinguished officials as Erik Jarve, president of the Oslo Stock Exchange; Otto Nageli, president of the Swiss Options & Financial Futures Exchange; and professors Dan Galai of The Hebrew University and Ian Cooper of the London Business School along with several other experts.
Some additional U.S. representatives include Amex Senior Vice President Howard A. Baker; Amex Managing Director David M. Helson (London); Georges Courtadon, vice president, Bankers Trust Company; Professor Robert C. Merton, Harvard University; and Lawrence G. McMillan, president, McMillan Analysis Corporation.
The International Colloquium is modeled after the Amex's annual Options and Derivatives Colloquium held in the United States, widely regarded as the premier domestic forum for presenting the latest theories and practices of derivative securities. Last year's International Colloquium was held in Brussels, Belgium.
