 OPTICAL SENSORS FOR MEDICINE NAMES DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
 Paulita M. LaPlante, Formerly with American Medical Systems
 MINNEAPOLIS, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Optical Sensors for Medicine has named Paulita M. LaPlante director of marketing.
 From 1986-92, LaPlante held a variety of positions with American Medical Systems (AMS), a subsidiary of Pfizer, Inc., based in Minnetonka, Minn. At AMS, LaPlante served as senior product manager for prostate products, manager of new business development and manager of worldwide technical training.
 From 1984-86, LaPlante was the communications and training supervisor for global sales and marketing at Medical Incorporated of Bloomington, Minn. From 1981-84, she worked as a technician and scientist at the University of Minnesota in the division of pancreas, liver and kidney transplantation research.
 LaPlante received her bachelor of arts degree in biology from the College of St. Catherine in 1979. She pursued graduate studies in laboratory medicine and pathology at the University of Minnesota from 1982-84.
 Optical Sensors for Medicine is developing fiberoptic diagnostic blood gas sensors for use in critical care environments. The products are designed to provide continuous, cost-effective monitoring of a patient's respiratory status while eliminating the need to handle the patient's blood. Optical Sensors for Medicine, which is privately held, is based in Eden Prairie, Minn.
