OPTELECOM ANNOUNCES CONTRACT GAITHERSBURG, Md., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Optelecom, Inc.
(NASDAQ: OPTC), announced a contract for $260,000 from TEICC in Houston for fiber optic video and data transmission equipment for use by Lockheed Missile and Space Company, Inc., Austin Division, for their Tactical Environmental Support System (TESS). This contract is to provide equipment for the first TESS installation that Lockheed is providing to the U.S. Navy to upgrade its meteorological/oceanographic analysis and prediction systems. It is anticipated that Lockheed will supply additional TESS systems in the future using Optelecom equipment.
The company has also received an initial three month $88,000 task on a two-year program for developing a fiber optic sensor system for a major defense contractor. Additional contracts in the amount of $103,000 with the Naval Ocean Systems Command of the Navy for fiber optic payout technology development have also been received. -0- 1/8/92 /CONTACT: Dr. William H.
